Charms of the O.Y.O are incredibly simple to make.

The following is a guide for creating wooden Charms in The Captain's preferred style. Lightweight, desirable, and portable.
Just keep in mind... a Charm can be anything. Readymade objects may easily be Charmed with sharpies, paints, fire, etc. You can Charm...

...stones, scraps of wood, instruments, tools, paper, pencils & pens, weapons, vehicles, containers, medical implements, coffins, electronics, clothes, large panes of glass, bones, plants, trashcans, books, toys, flashlights, candles, flags, dinnerware, cosmetic implants (ew), wheels, building materials, furniture, candles & torches, currency, cards, fossils, window shutters, bags, umbrellas, shoes...

...I think you get the idea. You won't get an I.D number for just ANY piece of garbage you imbue with a Will...
...but we're pretty open minded. Effort is key! Justify your trash.

Now, to make Captain style Charms, all you need is...

1. A stick. Lighter colored woods are preferred for legibility. You should never use woods that are compromised or infested!
2. Something to chop it up with. T.c only ever uses a Hacksaw.
3. Sandpaper/sanding blocks.
4. Burning implement (soldering iron, pyrography tool, knife heated on stovetop)

And that's it! Even if none of these things are available to you, they can typically be acquired for under 20 dollars total.
Innumerable Charms may be produced at virtually zero cost once your tools are assembled. It's time to extend your Will.
Ready to rip? It's really not that complicated...

Select your medium. Look for dry sticks with an outer layer of bark that can be easily peeled by hand to reveal a smooth, pristine surface beneath.
You can find these at your local... forest... but if you're having a hard time, I can sell you some at a reasonable price.

Pick your favorite. Wash thoroughly, there's nothing worse than a grubby Charm. Take pride in your children!

Chop chop chop... it's more satisfying if you use a Hacksaw instead of electric tools. Earn your Charms!

Remember, Charms are best made in batches! Might as well. See how many you can make at a time, 4 Charms per session is a good place to start.

Sand them smooth. I usually start at 220p and then jump straight to 4-600p. Sanding sponges are perfect for Charms. If you have to sand for more than 5 minutes or so, just find a different stick.
There are plenty of sticks in the sea. The perfect one's out there somewhere!

Ideas and brain-thoughts. If you can't think of anything, you may plumb the depths of my Diaries for plenty of Charm conceptions.
I don't mind.

Ask t.c for your I.D numbers. Burn. It doesn't have to be too complex or fancy. Above all else, legibility is key.

Once your Charm is complete, take some pictures/videos of it for our Ledger. The more, the merrier.
Don't be afraid to get creative, you can always provide us with a transcription if the entire Charm isn't visible.

Hide it somewhere, anywhere, in the Wider World. You can carry it all the way to the top of K2 or put it in a divebar bathroom.
