We hide Treasures in the spaces between.

There is no membership of O.Y.O,
only Participation.

What is O.Y.O?

The O.Y.O is a system for creating, propagating and documenting unique Ritual forms.

We share these Rituals amongst eachother as Directions to be enacted by Strangers.

These are either inscribed upon physical objects known as Charms, typically passed from hand to hand...

"Travel somewhere new!"

...or arranged within specific real world Environments known as Dispersals (think something like a Little Free Library).

"Take a book, return a book."

Dispersals and Charms are tracked on our World Map. One might be closer than you think.

The O.Y.O website functions as an archival structure for documenting these Rituals and hosting the artistic Works that emerge from them.

Each Dispersal/Charm has its own timeline with writing, video, audio, coordinates...

...and anyone may Submit their own content at any time.

If this World is condemned to be an empty place, it is our obligation to fill it with magic for you to discover.

Best of all, anyone can Create ❣️ O.Y.O for themselves, anywhere they happen to be in the World. The Ordo Yule Orphic is a way to make manifest things which previously you could only imagine.

We provide you with a method of Gifting your dreams to Strangers.

Collective Ritual (noun)

1. A Ritual process to be undertaken by O.Y.O Participants, most often written as a linear narrative or sequence of directives. Physical spaces are described in general terms, allowing the Collective Ritual to manifest itself across many disparate Environments.

2. A text detailing the Ritual encounters which may be enacted at a Dispersal of O.Y.O or when in the posession of certain Charms.

Dispersal (noun)

1. A single physical Environment, or array of Environments, prepared by O.Y.O Participants to facilitate the enactmant of a Collective Ritual.

2. A physical location, or a series of interrelated physical locations, designated for the discovery, documentation, or continuation of an O.Y.O Collective Ritual, often involving hidden Gifts and Ceremonial Games which propagate over time.

Charm (noun)

1. A portable object inscribed with Wills and/or Ritual Directions. Charms are usually assigned an O.Y.O I.D number to track their progress.

A Dispersal is an Environment where a Collective Ritual has taken form.

The ancestor of the O.Y.O Dispersal is the
Public Ritual.

You have most likely interacted with many Public Rituals that are similar to O.Y.O Dispersals over the course of your life.

If you know what to look for, you will begin to see them everywhere. Familiar examples include...

Wishing wells, Little Free Libraries, roadside memorials, hotel ledgers/guestbooks, Geocaches, love locks, note walls, sticker clusters, grafitti, community boards, Catholic candles (?), community gardens, tip jars, religious shrines, free boxes, sites of pilgrimage, ARGs, public instruments, sidewalk chalk, community art swaps, playgrounds, painted rocks, the blarney stone, seed exchanges, smoothed statues, railroad tracks...

…and countless others.

Public Rituals such as these typically arise spontaneously. They often operate off of unwritten rules, and these rules are almost always very simple.

This simplicity is borne of necessity. If the purpose of a Public Ritual is too obscure, it vanishes and dies. If nobody knew what a wishing well was, we would only see fountains.

This makes it difficult for novel Public Ritual forms to establish themselves.

Our answer to this limitation is the Collective Ritual. Each is a reproducable Ritual schematic which may be interprited, manifested and re-imagined in an infinite variety of ways.

The O.Y.O harnesses the power of the Public Ritual by giving it structure. We are an engine for the conception and propagation of unique Ritual forms.

Each Dispersal has its own set of Directions interwoven with the Collective Ritual it's based upon. These Directions are specific to the Environment(s) the Dispersal manifests itself within and the intentions of its creator.

Directions are displayed with quotations of the Collective Ritual's text on each Dispersal's Ledger page. They may also be present upon objects located at Dispersals.

A Dispersal's Directions may contain absolutely anything (within reason) so long as the narrative pulses of the Collective Ritual may still be felt. Directions are often widly divergent.

The Collective Ritual may be thought of as a dream and the Dispersal as this dream spilling over into reality. We invite you to look out upon this world and imagine what is possible.

Within our framework, there are 4 Levels of Collective Ritual/Dispersal.

The examples above are analogous to Level 1 Collective Rituals. Using the O.Y.O, you can infuse any chosen physical space with possibility.

The only limits exist in your imagination...

♥ ♥ ♥ Charms ♥ ♥ ♥

A Charm is, in essence, a Dispersal whose Environment is constantly in flux. Each Charm is inscribed with a unique Will which charts the course of its destiny.

List of Charms

Charms are living things with dreams and desires. When a Charm is discovered, it is a Participant's goal to fulfill those desires.

"Destroy me in a fire, on a mountain alone. Record my death. Clean me in a frozen pond. Take me on a walk at 1:40am."

If you come into the possession of a Charm, you will most often keep it for awhile and then pass it along to another. Once it is born, a Charm belongs to each Participant equally.

Charms may also have the enactment of certain Collective Rituals integrated within their Wills. This removes the limitation of complexity which is imposed upon charms by their typically diminutive size.

Treat them well. Unless, of course, they ask you to be abused... but don't get too carried away.

Now, these Dispersals and Charms wouldn't be much fun if nobody could find them, would they?

• • Secondary Dispersals • •

A Secondary Dispersal is a transcription of a Dispersal or Charm's Ritual Directions hidden in the Wider World. They often point Strangers to our website and provide GPS coordinates.

There may be multiple Dispersals or Charms portrayed on a single Secondary Dispersal.

• • Visitations • •

Visitations are ephemeral marks pointing toward anything related to O.Y.O. They might be:

A symbol on a wall…
A short message written in chalk…
Coordinates on parchment…
Our URL tucked into a book…
A painted stone left under a bridge…

Or anything else that you could possibly think of.

You need only provide a single photograph and a title to Submit a Visitation. You could easily create one right now!

Essentially, O.Y.O may be viewed as a vast body of collaborative artistic Works, all inexorably linked through shared spaces and lived experiences.

Every Participant of O.Y.O is an intimate collaborator. We refer to this communal creative method as Folding Time.

Participation in O.Y.O means contributing to an emergent scripture and watching your contributions expand themselves in real time.

The O.Y.O was born 3/3/2026, 3:33 on the edge of Castle Lake, CA. Its Birth was signalled at the peak of the Blood Moon Eclipse.

Currently, we are still growing.

The O.Y.O is hosted and curated by me, a 23 year old witch named T.C, and my assistant A.O. We spend our days travelling the World, spreading the O.Y.O everywhere we rest our heads.
